Grand Hotel Philadelphia

Right in the heart of the Rotterdam shipping-quarter (Scheepvaartkwartier), lies Grand Hotel Philadelphia. Having opened her doors in May 2005, the hotel consists of three renovated buildings that had previously served as shipping offices since the eighteenth century.

The hotel has 20 hotel rooms at its disposal, as well as a Grand Café-Restaurant, private dining- or conference rooms, a laundry service and its own bakery ‘Philly's'.

 

‘Not just a hotel!'

 

Grand Hotel Philadelphia is a unique initiative created by ‘Stichting Philadelphia Zorg' (Philadelphia Care Foundation), a national organisation for people who need care and/or help regardless of their disability or age, so that they can live independently and shape their own lives.

With the help and guidance of professionals, young people with a developmental disability follow a learning-and-working program in the hotel. They work in the kitchen, bakery, laundry, restaurant and housekeeping.

The goal of the project is for the students to acquire the necessary diploma's which will allow them to enter the labour market. The Philadelphia job coach assists in the finding of a suitable job.
